About Jumping Games
Jumping games are built on one of gaming's oldest and most satisfying moves: the leap. Some make you time every jump yourself; others bounce you automatically and ask you to steer the landing. Vertical jumpers, where a character hops upward from platform to platform while the screen climbs with it, are a favourite on phones because they need nothing more than left and right. Miss a platform and you fall, so every bounce is a quick decision about where to go next.
Cloud Hopper is our vertical jumping game, an endless climb through a painted sunset sky. Pip, a little orange bird in a striped scarf, bounces on its own every time it lands on a cloud, and you steer it left and right onto the next cloud up. White clouds are safe, pink ones glide from side to side, grey storm clouds crumble after a single bounce, springs launch you three times higher and firework rockets blast you more than 400 metres up. Golden star trails show the way, and grumpy crows cross the gaps: stomp them from above, but don't fly into them from below. The screen wraps around at the edges, and the sky gets harder the higher you climb, past castle spires and twilight to a starry night. In Endless the run goes on until you fall and the leaderboard is how high you got; Timed is the same climb on a two-minute clock.
Every jumping game on Gamefinity runs free in your browser with no download. Hold the left or right half of the screen on a phone, or use the arrow keys on a computer. If you like the rush of a run, try the endless runner games, where you leap over barriers at speed, or browse the rest of the action games. The quick games and keyboard games pages have more short runs you can play with a few keys.
Frequently asked questions
What are jumping games?
Games built around jumping: timing leaps over gaps and obstacles, or bouncing from platform to platform. In a vertical jumper like Cloud Hopper you bounce automatically and steer to land on the next platform up.
How do I control Cloud Hopper?
Hold the left or right half of the screen, the arrow keys or A and D to steer. The bird bounces by itself whenever it lands on a cloud, so there is no jump button.
What happens if I miss a cloud?
You fall toward the clouds below, and if you drop past the bottom of the screen the run is over. In the first 30 seconds the safety clouds at the bottom of the screen bounce you back up. The next solid cloud is always within reach of a single bounce, so every miss is a misjudged landing, not bad luck.
Is Cloud Hopper an endless jumping game?
Yes. In Endless mode there is no clock: you climb until you fall, and the sky keeps getting harder so even a great run ends after a few minutes. Timed mode puts the same climb on a two-minute clock.
Can I play jumping games on my phone?
Yes. Cloud Hopper plays in portrait: hold the left or right side of the screen to steer. It works just as well with a keyboard or a mouse on a computer.
