About Action Games

Action games are about momentum. Things move fast, the pressure builds and every second asks you to react. The action games on Gamefinity pack that feeling into short runs that start the moment you press Play: no loading screens, no tutorials to sit through and no download. Most runs last a minute or two, so you get the rush without losing the afternoon.

Lane Rush is the place to start. It is a three-lane snowboarding endless runner down a mountain where pines fill your lane, fallen logs make you jump (hold the jump to fly higher), race banners make you duck and the speed keeps climbing. Swipe or use the arrow keys to carve between lanes, and see how far down the mountain you get, or race a 90-second clock in its Timed mode. Prefer to go up? Cloud Hopper is a vertical jumping game through a painted sunset sky: your bird bounces on every cloud it lands on, and you steer it left and right to climb as high as you can, riding springs and rockets and stomping crows, until you fall in Endless mode or the two-minute clock runs out in Timed mode.

On a computer, Neon Siege turns up the firepower. It is a twin-stick arena shooter: steer your ship with WASD, aim with the mouse, dash through danger and survive two minutes of neon waves, with a mini-boss arriving at the 90-second mark. It is Desktop only, because it asks you to move and aim at the same time, and you will find it with our shooting games too. If you enjoy these, the reaction games tag collects more games that test how quickly you respond, and our arcade games add a classic high-score twist.

Every action game runs in a secure frame in your browser, and most work with touch, mouse and keyboard alike. Play free rounds to learn the patterns, then make a Ranked attempt to post a score on the weekly leaderboard, which resets every Monday. Top runs are replayed on our servers before they count, so nobody can fake their way to the top.

Frequently asked questions

  • What makes a game an action game?

Speed and pressure: you react to what happens on screen in real time, usually by dodging, jumping or aiming, and the pace rises as you go.

  • Can I play action games with a keyboard?

Yes. Lane Rush and Cloud Hopper use the arrow keys or A and D, Neon Siege moves your ship with WASD or the arrow keys while you aim with the mouse, and every game lists its controls on its page.

  • How long does an action game last?

Most runs end within one or two minutes, either when the clock runs out or when you crash or fall. You can start a new run instantly.
