How to play Neon Siege
Click to start, then move your ship with W A S D or the arrow keys.
Aim with the mouse: the ship always faces the pointer. Hold the left mouse button to fire a stream of bolts.
Press Space or Shift to dash: a quick burst in the direction you are moving that makes you invulnerable for a moment.
Watch the spawn gates along the walls: a beam of light marks where an enemy arrives one second later, and arrows on the edge of the screen point at enemies outside the camera's view.
Destroy enemies to drop score gems. They fly to your ship on their own and add to your score.
Avoid being hit: you have three hull points, and every hit resets your multiplier to ×1.
Survive until the timer runs out to earn the survival bonus.

Tips
Keep moving in wide circles around the arena and shoot across the crowd behind you. Standing still lets chasers surround you.
Protect your multiplier. At ×8 every kill is worth eight times as much, so a run without a hit can score several times more than a sloppy one.
Read the spawn beams and the edge arrows. Move away from the wall where a group is about to appear, and turn to face it before it arrives.
Dashers paint a red line on the floor before they charge. Step off the line, or dash straight through the charge: you are invulnerable while dashing.
Take out gunners early. Their orange bullets are slow and easy to dodge on their own, but several gunners together fill the arena.
When a splitter bursts, keep firing where it was: its two splitlings are fast but die to a single bolt.
Against the Warden, slip through the gaps in its bullet rings and keep firing at its core. Destroying it drops eight bonus gems.
About Neon Siege
Neon Siege is a free twin-stick arena shooter you play right in your browser. You pilot a cyan dart ship across a walled neon arena under a red storm sky while waves of glowing geometric enemies pour in from the edges, and you have two minutes to survive, shoot and score. It is one of our shooting games: fast, short and built for the precision of a keyboard and a mouse, with nothing to download or install. If you enjoy classic arena shooters and space shooter games with bright neon visuals, this one is made for you: the camera rides above your ship and follows it around the arena, and every kill bursts into a shower of tumbling cubes.
A round plays like this. A beam of light falls on one of the spawn gates along the arena's walls to show where an enemy will arrive, a full second before it does, and arrows on the edge of the screen point at anything coming from outside the camera's view. Magenta diamond chasers home in slowly, orange crystal splitters burst into two fast splitlings when destroyed, yellow gunner cubes keep their distance and lob slow orange fireballs, and red dashers paint a charge line on the floor before they rocket across it. The first fifteen seconds are gentle, then the waves grow denser, and at the 90-second mark a mini-boss called the Warden arrives and fills the middle of the arena with rings of bullets. The wave script is the same on every run, so each attempt is the same fair challenge.
Scoring rewards clean play. Every enemy you destroy drops a score gem that flies to your ship, worth the enemy's points times your multiplier. The multiplier climbs by one for every eight kills without being hit, all the way to ×8, and drops back to ×1 the moment something touches you. Your hull takes three hits; lose them all and the run ends early. Survive to the end and you earn a survival bonus of 1,000 points plus 1,000 for every hull point left. The results card shows your kills, your best multiplier and your accuracy, and a Ranked attempt is replayed on our servers before it counts on the leaderboard.
Neon Siege is Desktop only. Like every twin-stick shooter, it asks you to move and aim at the same time: your left hand steers with W A S D or the arrow keys while your right hand aims with the mouse, holds the button to fire and taps Space or Shift to dash. A touch screen cannot do both precisely without virtual joysticks, which would make it a worse game, so it lives on our PC games page with the other keyboard games. On a phone the page tells you it is made for keyboard and mouse and lets you copy or share the link to open it later on a computer.
The game is easy to start and hard to master. Your ship's hitbox is much smaller than it looks, enemy bullets are slow, you are invulnerable for two and a half seconds after a hit, and during the first thirty seconds the dash recharges almost instantly. Experts chase the ×8 multiplier through the whole run and bring down the Warden for its shower of bonus gems. Neon Siege FAQ
Can I play Neon Siege on my phone?
No. Neon Siege is Desktop only because you steer with the keyboard and aim with the mouse at the same time, and a touch screen cannot do both precisely. On a phone the page offers to copy or share the link so you can open it on a computer; Play anyway loads the game, but the ship cannot move by touch.
How long does a game of Neon Siege last?
At most two minutes: 118 seconds of waves followed by a short results card. The run ends sooner if your hull takes three hits.
How is the score calculated?
Each destroyed enemy drops a gem worth its points (chaser 10, splitling 5, splitter 20, gunner and dasher 30, the Warden 500) times your multiplier. The multiplier rises by one every eight kills without a hit, up to ×8, and resets when you are hit. Surviving to the end adds 1,000 points plus 1,000 for each hull point left.
What is a twin-stick shooter?
A shooter where moving and aiming are separate, so you can run one way while shooting another. In Neon Siege the keyboard moves the ship and the mouse aims it.
Is every run the same?
The waves are: the same enemies arrive at the same moments in every run. Only the exact edge spot each enemy enters from changes, always far from your ship and always shown a second in advance, so every ranked attempt is equally hard.
How does the dash work?
Press Space or Shift to burst in the direction you are moving (or where you aim if you are standing still). You are invulnerable for a third of a second. The dash recharges in 0.6 seconds during the first 30 seconds and in 1.4 seconds after that.
