Number Games
About Number Games
Number games turn arithmetic into play. You don't need to be a maths whizz to enjoy them: the fun is in spotting patterns, planning combinations and watching small numbers grow into big ones. They are among the best games for a quick mental workout, because they reward clear thinking without asking for any special knowledge.
Merge Minute is our favourite number game. On a 4×4 grid, you slide every tile at once and matching numbers combine into their sum: two 2s make a 4, two 4s make an 8, and so on up towards 256 and beyond. The twist is the clock. You start with one minute, and every merge adds half a second, so the numbers keep you alive for as long as you keep combining them. Sudoku Sprint is a number puzzle of a different kind, with no sums at all: fill three 6×6 mini sudokus so that every row, column and box holds the numbers 1 to 6 once, all against one two-minute clock.
If you enjoy numbers, try the merge games, the sudoku games and our collection of games like 2048. Number games also belong among our brain games and puzzle games, and they make a great daily habit: a couple of rounds a day is enough to feel your pattern-spotting improve.
Frequently asked questions
Are number games good for your brain?
They are a fun way to practise pattern recognition, planning and mental arithmetic. We make games, not medical claims, but many players use them as a daily warm-up.
Do I need to be good at maths?
No. Merge Minute only asks you to spot matching numbers, and Sudoku Sprint uses numbers as symbols; the challenge is in planning, not calculating.
Which number game should I start with?
Merge Minute if you like 2048-style merging, Sudoku Sprint if you prefer logic puzzles. Both last up to about two minutes.
