Drag pieces onto the board · fill rows and columns
How to play Block Fit
Touch or click one of the three pieces in the tray below the board.
Drag it over the board: a see-through preview shows where it will land, and the rows and columns it would complete light up in its colour.
Let go to place it. A red outline means it does not fit there, and the piece goes back to the tray.
Fill a whole row or column to clear it. Clear lines through the purple gem blocks for a 250-point bonus each.
Clear on consecutive placements to build the combo multiplier up to ×8. Two placements without a clear keep it alive; the third breaks it.
Drag a piece onto the save pocket on the left to keep it for later, and drop a bomb anywhere to blast the 3×3 area around it.
When all three tray pieces are used, three new ones are dealt. The round ends after two minutes, or when nothing can move.
Controls
| Input | Action |
|---|---|

| Mouse click and drag | Pick up a piece from the tray or the save pocket and drop it on the board |
| Drag onto the save pocket | Keep a tray piece for later, or swap it with the piece saved there |
| Release off the board | Put the piece back where it came from |
Tips
Keep one large open area on the board. A clean 3×3 space means the biggest pieces always have a home.
Avoid leaving single empty squares surrounded by blocks: only the 1×1 piece can fill them, and it rarely comes.
Build rows and columns through the gem blocks: a gem is already a filled square, and clearing it at a high combo multiplies its 250-point bonus.
Use the save pocket for the awkward piece of a set, but empty it again soon: a full pocket cannot rescue you when the last piece of a deal fits nowhere.
Keep a bomb in the pocket for an emergency. Dropped on a crowded corner it can open room for a 3×3 square and save the round.
Aim to clear at least one line in every set of three pieces to keep the combo alive; at ×5 and above every line is worth five times as much.
Set up a row and a column that cross at the same empty square, then fill that square to clear both at once for 300 points or more.
About Block Fit
Block Fit is a free block puzzle game you play right in your browser. A 10×10 wooden board sits on a sunny table by a window, and three pieces wait in the tray below it: short bars and corners, squares, T, S and L shapes, and now and then a long bar or a big 3×3 block. Drag a piece onto the board and let go, and it lands where the see-through preview shows. Fill a whole row or a whole column and the blocks crack apart in a burst of light, freeing the space again. If you have played a wood block puzzle, a Block Blast style game or any classic 10x10 block game, you will feel at home in seconds.
Every round starts with three gem blocks already on the board. They count as filled squares, so they help you finish lines, and clearing a row or column that runs through a gem pays a 250-point bonus. New gems appear as you collect them, so there is always something sparkling to aim for. Every few deals a bomb arrives in the tray: drop it on any square, empty or not, and it blasts the 3×3 area around it, which is perfect for rescuing a cluttered corner. Next to the tray sits a save pocket: drag an awkward piece into it to keep it for later, swap it back out when it fits, or save the last piece of a set that fits nowhere to get three fresh pieces.
The challenge is space. You cannot rotate the pieces, and every block you place without clearing a line takes room that the next, possibly bigger piece will need. Leave a single empty square boxed in by blocks and only the smallest piece will ever fill it; stack carelessly and a 1×5 bar or a 3×3 square will have nowhere to go. The round ends when the two-minute clock runs out, or earlier if nothing can move: no piece in the tray or the pocket fits anywhere. Pieces that no longer fit are greyed out, so you can see trouble coming.
Scoring rewards clean, ambitious play. Every block you place is worth 10 points and every line you clear 100; two lines at once pay 300 and three pay 600, and a row and a column cleared together count as two. Clear on consecutive placements and the combo multiplier climbs from ×2 up to ×8, multiplying lines and gems alike; you may place two pieces without a clear before it breaks, and the medallion in the corner shows the multiplier your next clear will earn. From ×3 the board catches fire, and big moments get a callout, up to MEGA COMBO. Empty the entire board and you earn a 3,000-point bonus.
The dealer is tuned to be fair and friendly for newcomers. The first deals are gentle, larger pieces arrive as the round goes on, you never get three large pieces in a row, every new set of three contains at least one piece that fits, and every seed starts with the same number of gems and gets its bombs on the same deals. Rounds are short enough for a coffee break, which makes Block Fit one of our favourite block puzzle games and quick games, and a natural pick among free games to play at work.
On a phone or tablet, touch a piece and slide it up: it rides just above your finger, and a short magnet pulls it onto the nearest spot where it fits, so drops feel easy even on a small screen. On a computer, click and drag with the mouse. Everything runs in the browser with nothing to install, like all of our free online games with no download. Looking for more? Block Fit FAQ
How long does a game of Block Fit last?
At most two minutes. A round ends earlier if nothing can move: no piece in the tray or the save pocket fits anywhere on the board. With the pocket and the bombs, careful players usually last the full time.
How is the score calculated?
Each block placed is worth 10 points. Clearing lines pays 100 for one, 300 for two at once, 600 for three and more for bigger clears, and every gem block in a cleared line adds 250. Lines and gems are multiplied by your combo, up to ×8. A bomb pays 20 per block it blasts, and emptying the whole board adds a 3,000-point bonus.
What are the gem blocks?
Purple jewel blocks placed on the board at the start of every round, three on every seed. They count as filled squares; clear a row or column through one to collect it for a 250-point bonus times your combo. New gems appear as you collect them.
What does the save pocket do?
Drag a piece from the tray onto the pocket to keep it for later, and drag it out onto the board whenever it fits. Dropping another piece on a full pocket swaps the two. Saving the last piece of a set brings three new pieces, which can rescue a round.
How does the bomb work?
A bomb arrives in the fifth set of pieces and in every eighth set after that. Drop it on any square of the board, empty or full, and it clears the 3×3 area around it. It neither breaks nor builds your combo.
Can I rotate the pieces?
No. Pieces are placed exactly as they are shown in the tray, which is what makes planning ahead so important.
Can I play Block Fit on my phone?
Yes. It works in any modern mobile browser: drag the pieces with your finger. The piece floats just above your fingertip, and a short magnet pulls it onto the nearest spot where it fits.
Why isn't Block Fit in the daily challenge?
In the daily challenge everyone plays the same seed, and in Block Fit the seed decides which pieces are dealt next. Knowing the order in advance would be an unfair edge, so Block Fit has its own leaderboards instead.
