How to play Sky Flap

  1. Pick Endless to fly as far as you can, or Timed for a two-minute run.

  2. Tap, click or press Space to take off; every tap gives your bird the same crisp lift, so keep tapping in a steady rhythm to hold your height.

  3. Fly through the gap in each castle tower: touching a tower or the castle wall below ends the run, unless your feather shield saves you.

  4. Follow the curving star trails between the towers: 10 points a star and 30 more for all five.

  5. Watch the moving gates’ arrows, grab shield feathers near the gaps, and in Endless keep going as the towers come faster and closer.

Tips

  1. Find the rhythm first: a tap roughly every two thirds of a second keeps you level, and calm, regular taps beat frantic ones.

  2. Watch the next gap, not the one you are in: when it is lower, stop tapping while you are still inside the tower and let gravity carry you down.

  3. On an arcing star trail, tap just before the first star and let the arc of the flap carry you through the rest; on a dipping trail, let yourself fall to the middle star and tap there.

  4. A moving gate is exactly level when you are in its middle: line up with where it will be, and follow its arrows up or down while you cross it.

  5. In Endless the towers are worth far more than the stars: once the gaps get narrow, skip a trail that pulls you away from the next gap.

About Sky Flap

Sky Flap is a free one tap flying game you can play online, right in your browser. Your little coral bird flies through a moonlit castle town: gravity is always pulling it down, and every tap, click or press of the space bar gives it a crisp lift. Tall stone castle towers scroll in from the right, covered in ivy and lit windows, each with a gap to fly through. It is a classic tap to fly game with a few twists of its own: two ways to play, curving trails of gold stars between the towers, moving gates and a feather shield that saves you from a bump.

Endless is the heart of the game, an endless flying game with no clock at all: you fly until you crash, and the leaderboard is simply how far you got. The towers keep coming, and every eight towers past the two-minute mark the game takes another step up: the gaps get narrower, the moving gates swing further, the towers stand closer together and the scroll gets faster. A good flight lasts a couple of minutes and a great one around three, so every run ends with the same question: one more tower? Timed is the two-minute version: survive to the end of the clock for a 1,000-point survival bonus and a victory lap.

The first half minute is made for finding the rhythm in both modes. The first towers have wide gaps, they arrive slowly with small changes in height, and your bird starts with a feather shield that saves you from your first bump: the stones smash out of the way and you keep flying. From the twelfth tower some towers become moving gates that slide up or down while you fly through them, glowing with blue runes and arrows that show which way they are going. Every gap is on screen for well over a second before it reaches you, so you can always see what is coming, and every run gets exactly the same gap sizes, speeds, gates and feathers, only in a different order, so no run is luckier than another.

Every gap you fly through scores 100 points, and the towers you pass make up most of your score. Between every other pair of towers a star trail of five gold stars curves up in an arc or dips down in a valley: each star is worth 10 points, and collecting all five pays 30 more. Following a trail means timing your taps to the curve, and it always pulls you away from the safe line. A pass that skims a tower by a whisker is a close call worth another 25, and shield feathers float close to the edges of the gaps: grab one to get your shield back, or for 50 bonus points if you still have it. Play as many free rounds as you like, then press Ranked attempt to put a score on the leaderboard of either mode; ranked runs are verified by replaying your inputs on our servers.

Sky Flap is a true one button game online: tap anywhere on a phone or tablet, click with a mouse, or press Space, Enter or the up arrow on a keyboard, and P to pause. Nothing else is needed, so it plays just as well one-handed on a bus as it does on a laptop at lunch. If you enjoy it, you will feel at home among our one-button games, timing games and reaction games, and in the wider world of arcade games and endless runner games. A Timed run never takes more than two minutes, which makes it one of our quick games and a natural pick from our free games to play at work. It plays on mobile and on PC, and like every game on Gamefinity it is one of our free online games with no download that works with the keyboard as well as with touch.

Sky Flap FAQ

  • What is the difference between Endless and Timed?

Endless has no clock: you fly until you crash, the towers come faster, closer and narrower every eight towers past the two-minute mark, and your score is mostly how many towers you passed. Timed is a two-minute run with a 1,000-point bonus for surviving to the end. Each mode has its own leaderboard.

  • How long does a game of Sky Flap last?

A Timed run lasts at most two minutes. An Endless run lasts as long as you do: a good flight takes a couple of minutes and a great one around three.

  • How is the score calculated?

100 points for every gap you fly through, 10 for each gold star, 30 more for collecting a whole star trail, 25 for each close call and 50 for a shield feather you did not need. In Timed, surviving the full two minutes adds a 1,000-point bonus. Nothing is ever taken away.

  • What does the feather shield do?

You start every run with one. The first time you touch a tower or the wall, the shield is spent instead of your run: the stones smash out of the way, the bird bounces off the wall, and for one second more bumps are forgiven too. Grab a floating feather to get a new shield.

  • Can I play Sky Flap on my phone?

Yes. Tap anywhere on the screen to flap. On a computer you can click, or press Space, Enter or the up arrow, and P pauses the game.

  • Is every run equally hard?

Yes. Every run has the same gap sizes, the same spacing, the same speed steps, the same moving gates and feathers and the same mix of height changes and star trails; only their order changes, so no run is luckier than another.
