How to play Putt Rush

  1. Press anywhere and drag back away from the direction you want the ball to go; the longer the pull, the harder the putt.

  2. Watch the putter, the power ring and the dotted line, then let go to putt. A very short pull cancels the shot without a stroke.

  3. Bank off the wooden rails, time the windmill and the sliding gate, read the slopes, and keep out of the sand and the water.

  4. Roll the ball into the cup slowly enough to drop. Sink the hole and the next one pans in at once.

  5. Play as many holes as you can before the two-minute clock runs out: fewer strokes and a faster round mean a bigger score.

Tips

  1. Let the dotted line do the measuring: it shows how far the putt rolls on flat felt, so aim to stop just past the cup rather than smash it.

  2. Use the rails. A bank shot off a straight rail is often the shortest route around walls, bumpers and ponds, and the dots show a short ghost of the bank.

  3. At the windmill, watch one sail pass the tunnel, then let go just as it clears: the ball needs about a second to reach the mouth.

  4. On the jump hole, hit the ramp firmly. A soft putt never leaves the lip and drops into the creek; the bridge along the top is the safe way round.

  5. Downhill chevrons on the felt show which way a slope breaks. Aim above the cup on a hill, and trust the bowl on the first hole to gather the ball.

  6. Do not spend too long over a putt: every second you save is time for another hole, and a hole in one on a short hole is worth a 1,000-point bonus.

About Putt Rush

Putt Rush is a free mini golf game you play right in your browser: a fourteen-hole putt-putt course on a clifftop by the sea at sunset, one two-minute clock, and a slingshot putt. Pull back from the ball, watch the putter draw back, the power ring fill and the dotted line stretch across the felt, and let go. The holes keep coming until the time runs out, so the game is simple to state: sink as many holes as you can, in as few strokes as you can, before the horn. There is nothing to download or install, and a round is over in two minutes.

The course is the same for everyone and it is played in order, like a real mini golf course. The first hole is a gentle par 2 with a bowl around the cup that gathers any sensible putt, so everyone sinks it. Then the classics arrive one at a time: wooden rails to bank off, a beach bunker, a red-and-white windmill whose turning sails block the tunnel every few seconds, a hill that breaks your putt, a stone pond, a row of kick bumpers, a jump ramp that flies the ball over a creek if you hit it firmly enough, a sliding gate, a pipe that swallows a slow ball and pops it out near the cup, tide pools, a volcano with the cup on its crown and a par-4 S to finish. Each hole can be mirrored, so you read it fresh every round, but every player faces the same course.

Putting is all about the pull. The direction of your drag sets the line and its length sets the power, with extra precision on short putts so a tap-in stays easy. The physics is real mini golf: the ball slows on the felt, grinds to a halt in sand, bends on slopes, bounces off the rails at a lively angle and only drops into the cup when it arrives slowly enough. Too fast and it lips out and rolls on. A ball in the water costs a penalty stroke and goes back to where you played it, and after six strokes a hole is picked up so the round keeps moving. The windmill's sails are exactly as wide as they look: watch them turn, then release as the tunnel opens.

Scoring rewards precision and pace. Every hole you sink is worth 1,000 points plus 500 for each stroke under double bogey, so a par earns 2,000 and a birdie on a par 3 earns 2,500, and a hole in one adds a 1,000-point bonus on top. A quick, tidy round plays more holes, and a putt still rolling when the clock hits zero can drop for a buzzer beater. The scorecard at the end shows every hole, your total to par and your score, and the leaderboard ranks how far round the course you got and how well you played it.

You can play with touch, mouse or keyboard. On a phone, turn it sideways and pull back with your finger; on a computer, drag with the mouse. Keyboard players turn the aim with the left and right arrow keys, fine-tune with up and down, and hold Space to charge a power meter that rises and falls until they let go. Every ranked round is replayed and verified on our servers before it counts, so the leaderboards show real putts only.

Putt Rush FAQ

  • Is Putt Rush free to play?

Yes. Putt Rush is completely free and runs in your web browser on phones, tablets and computers. There is nothing to download and you don't need an account to play.

  • How long does a game of Putt Rush last?

Two minutes. The holes keep coming until the clock runs out: a first-timer plays six or seven holes, a good player ten or more. A putt still rolling at the horn can still drop.

  • How is the score calculated?

Each sunk hole is worth 1,000 points plus 500 for every stroke under par plus two, so a par is 2,000, and a hole in one adds a 1,000-point bonus. Water adds a penalty stroke, and a hole picked up after six strokes scores nothing.

  • Is it the same course every time?

Yes. Everyone plays the same fourteen holes in the same order, and the course starts again after hole fourteen. Each round may mirror the holes and change when the windmill and the gate start, so you read every hole fresh, but no round is harder than another.

  • Can I play Putt Rush on my phone?

Yes. Hold your phone sideways, press anywhere and drag your finger back to aim and set the power, then let go to putt. The course scales to fit any screen.

  • Can I play with the keyboard?

Yes. Turn the aim with the left and right arrow keys, fine-tune it with up and down, and hold Space to charge the power meter. Release Space to putt.

  • Why did my ball roll over the hole?

It was going too fast. The ball only drops when it reaches the cup slowly; a fast ball lips out and keeps rolling, just like in real mini golf.
