How to play Summit Solitaire

  1. Look at the open card at the bottom of the screen: the cards that fit on it glow.

  2. Tap a glowing card, one rank higher or lower than the open card. Suits do not matter, and the Ace and the King connect.

  3. The card becomes the new open card. Keep chaining cards to raise your streak multiplier.

  4. When nothing fits, tap the deck to draw a new open card. Drawing ends your streak.

  5. Clear a peak's top card for 1,000 points and all 28 cards for a big bonus. A new deal starts right away, so clear as many peaks as you can before time runs out.

Tips

  1. Trace the longest run you can see before you tap: a card that lets you continue with two or three more beats the first glowing card you spot.

  2. When two cards fit, play the one that turns over a face-down card. Every new face-up card is a new option for your run.

  3. Remember the wrap: a King can go on an Ace and an Ace on a King, so runs can loop from Queen through Two.

  4. Only draw when nothing glows. Every draw resets the multiplier, and the deck has just 23 cards per deal.

  5. Go for the peak tops: each one is worth 1,000 points, and clearing all three peaks clears the deal for a big bonus.

  6. Speed pays twice: a quick clear leaves more cards in the deck at 200 points each and more time for the next deal.

About Summit Solitaire

Summit Solitaire is a free TriPeaks solitaire game you play online, right in your browser, in a sunlit alpine valley. Twenty-eight cards are dealt into three mountain peaks, with only the bottom row face up, and a single open card waits below. Clear the peaks by tapping any face-up card that is one rank higher or one rank lower than the open card: the cards that fit glow. Suits never matter, and the Ace and the King connect, so a run can climb from Queen to King to Ace to Two. It is the solitaire you know from classic card game collections, tuned into a quick solitaire challenge that fits into a two-minute break, with real pip cards, painted court cards and the snowy summits behind the peaks revealed as you clear them.

Every card you play lands on the open pile and becomes the next card to match, and every card that leaves the tableau can turn over the card it was covering. When nothing matches, tap the deck to draw a new open card. The deck holds 23 cards, so each draw counts. A deal ends when you clear all 28 cards or when the deck runs out with no move left, and the next deal is dealt straight away. There is no waiting and no game over screen between deals: the only question is how many summits you can strip before the clock runs out.

Scoring rewards long runs. Each card is worth 100 points times your streak multiplier, which grows as you play cards in a row without drawing: ×2 from the third card, ×3 from the fifth and all the way up to ×10. Only a draw from the deck ends your streak; tapping a card that does not fit costs you nothing. Clearing the top card of a peak adds 1,000 points, and clearing the whole deal adds 3,000 more plus 200 for every card still in the deck, which makes a fast clear worth far more than a slow one.

The game shows you exactly what you can do. Every card that fits on the open card glows, the open card tells you which ranks to look for, and when nothing fits the deck pulses so you know to draw. Your first game starts with three quick tips, and three peak icons at the top fill in as you clear the peaks. Every game climbs the same ladder of deals, from a gentle first deal that lets a newcomer clear the peaks to harder ones that reward planning, and only the way each deal is dressed changes from game to game: the ranks, the suits and the side of the layout. That makes every game exactly as hard as every other one, so a better score always means better play. The skill is in the order of your plays: when two cards match, pick the one that keeps the run going longest or turns over a face-down card, and save your draws for the moments when nothing fits.

Summit Solitaire is one of our card games and plays beautifully on a phone held sideways: tap a card to play it and tap the deck to draw. On a computer, click with the mouse or use the keyboard: the arrow keys move a highlight across the face-up cards, Space or the up arrow plays the highlighted card and the down arrow draws. Like all our quick games and brain games, it is free with no download, it makes a good pick among the free games to play at work, and a Ranked attempt puts your best run on the leaderboard after it is replayed and verified on our servers. Summit Solitaire FAQ

  • How long does a game of Summit Solitaire last?

Two minutes: 118 seconds of play followed by a two-second final tally. Deals keep coming one after another until the clock runs out.

  • Is Summit Solitaire the same as TriPeaks solitaire?

It uses the TriPeaks layout and rules: three peaks of 28 cards, a deck and an open pile, and you remove any face-up card one rank above or below the open card. Summit Solitaire adds a two-minute clock, streak multipliers and a new deal the moment one ends.

  • Which cards can I play?

Any face-up card one rank higher or lower than the open card, whatever its suit. The cards you can play glow, and the open card shows which ranks fit, for example "PLAY A 6 OR 8" on a 7.

  • Is every game equally hard?

Yes. Every game deals the same ladder of deals, from an easy first deal to harder ones. Only the ranks, the suits and the side of the layout change from game to game, which never changes how a deal plays, so scores are directly comparable.

  • How is the score calculated?

Each card you play is worth 100 points times your streak multiplier, which rises from ×1 to ×10 as you play cards in a row without drawing. A peak's top card adds 1,000 points, and clearing the whole deal adds 3,000 plus 200 for each card left in the deck.

  • What happens when I run out of moves?

When the deck is empty and no face-up card fits the open card, the game shows "No moves left" and deals the next deal within two seconds. You keep every point you scored on the deal.

  • Can I play Summit Solitaire on my phone?

Yes. Turn your phone sideways (landscape), tap a card to play it and tap the deck to draw. The cards have large corner numbers so they stay easy to read on a small screen.

  • Can I play with just the keyboard?

Yes. Use the left and right arrow keys (or A and D) to move the highlight over the face-up cards, Space, Enter, the up arrow or W to play the highlighted card, and the down arrow or S to draw from the deck.
